 The CENTRAL LIBRARY BOOKSTORE

The Friends Bookstore at the Central Library is just to the right as you enter.  It is tiny but exceptionally curated, with special sales that change weekly. There are also greeting cards and CDs.  And….don’t forget a beautiful Friends of the Library t-shirts – always in fashion!

Sales at the Central Library Bookstore for Late April and May

April 27 – April 28: Hip Hop Lit Pop-up Sale!
Otherwise known as urban fiction, street romance, and definitely hot stuff. Hustlin’ divas, drug lords, thugs, and gangstas. Two-day sale – supply is limited, $1 each.

April 27 – May 31: Books you always meant to read.
Former best sellers, some classics, faded stars, sell-by date a bit dated – but you didn’t read them! Make up for it now. Procrastination pays off because the price is right!

Note: both the Friends of the Library bookstores (Channing and Central) will be closed Friday, May 1, for International Workers Day.

The CHANNING BOOKSTORE

The Channing Way Bookstore is located at 2433 Channing on the ground floor of the Telegraph-Channing garage. Our “Free Books” carts are stocked daily with books that we cannot sell, but are free for you to take and enjoy, or to refill your Little Free Library! The carts are currently available during all open hours and are located outside the store by the front entrance. Park in the parking structure: first hour is $1, or, use one of the pedestrian entrances on Channing Way or Durant Avenue (note: the latter is not wheelchair accessible).

If you are driving to the Channing Way store, remember that long-awaited elevator improvements to the Telegraph-Channing Garage are underway. There will be temporary impacts to access and facilities. The garage and the bookstore will continue to operate on a regular schedule, and remember, the first hour of parking is $1 in the Telegraph-Channing garage (unless there is a special event, like a home football game)!

Sales at the Channing Bookstore for May

World travel and local interest! The May sales table at Channing will feature vacation and staycation literature. Travel writing and travel guides for everywhere – explore the world from your couch. Or, get up off the couch and take a hike in Tilden, a walk in San Francisco, or eat dim sum in Oakland. We have books to spark your local adventures, too! Sale starts Tuesday, May 5.
