JUNE 9 – 12: It’s Jane Austen Week! 2025 is the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth and she’s still popular. Don’t miss this special sale of books and miscellaneous items as it will sell out quickly! AND…Don’t miss the Library’s evening with renowned scholar Mary De Forest, examining the words and characters in Jane Austen novels: TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 5:30-6:30 Central Library, Berkeley History Room.
JUNE 16-17, 19 and 21 (CLOSED JUNE 18 and 20) Teacher’s Company/Great Courses. Learn a little, learn a lot. Progress at your own pace and pay pennies per unit! We’ve got many DVDs/CDs on wide-ranging subjects. Very reasonably priced.
JUNE 23-28: Tintin and friends. The politics and prejudices need context, but the humor and illustrations are still brilliant. We have been gathering these editions for many months. The sale is small so we’ve augmented with Asterix and contemporary graphic novels for a fun-filled week.

The Friends celebrate a wide-ranging collection of fiction, non-fiction, young adult — by LGBTQ writers and/or about the LGBTQ experience.
Well worth a visit to the Channing bookstore where as always, everything is reasonably priced.
The Friends Channing Way Bookstore is located at 2433 Channing on the ground floor of the Telegraph-Channing garage. Park in the parking structure: first hour free!, or, use one of the pedestrian entrances on Channing Way or Durant Avenue (note: the latter is not wheelchair accessible). The Central Library Bookstore is on the first floor of the Central Library.
Our “Free Books” carts are stocked daily with books that we cannot sell, but are free for you to take and enjoy, or to refill your Little Free Library! The carts are currently available during all open hours and are located outside the store by the front entrance.
